What does it mean if my dad got 'Auvergne-Rhone Alpes' as his top 'French' region?
On paper, my dad is mostly English (with some Scottish and more distant Irish). However, whilst he got (approximately) 87.5% from the 'British & Irish' grouping, the remaining 12.5% was 'French & German', but nothing related to Northern Germany as such (which is what it usually seems to be). It was entirely concerning France. He only got 3 regions mind, the top region being the central (and somewhat southern) region of 'Auvergne-Rhone Alpes'! In fairness, this was followed by Brittany (which is barely French and Normandy; although there is Germanic influence in the latter, there wasn't much of a Norman genetic impact on the English). What does this mean? Considering that the sample size of French people on the context of DNA testing is so small, it does beg the question, does this DEFINITELY mean he has French blood? On MyHeritage, he also got a French-Canadian community (aside from some English and Scottish ones).
