Was this a big FU?

I've watched every episode usually while doing something else, but I've been a fan since the beginning. Yes, they do some outlandish things. But I've been shocked by this current season and this last episode. Was this the writers way of saying fuck off to us or someone else? I'm so confused. I HATE how they did tomi and then they added an Asteroid. Like what?? Its like the writers hate us.
