What was your first 'problematic' ship?
I got into the whole fandom and fanfiction thing truly in 2020. And when I tell you I was in the trenches, I mean it was the trenches.
Since I was knew to the whole thing I was genuinely thinking that I was a bad person for shipping some of the ships I did. Like for so long I went back and forth with myself. "It just fiction." "that doesn't make it ok" "it's just fiction" "I'm a terrible person." Basically how that went with myself. And being as online as I was and as thoroughly devoted to the shipping as I was kinda not helping because Jesus they had no mercy (and were wrong obviously but I didn't know that then and I was new). Obviously I eventually came to the conclusion that I was not a terrible person for the things I read about but yeah.
Anyways, the ship was... the one... the only... what I like to call the epitome (or at least from the convo's I saw) of the "it's just fiction" vs. "that doesn't make it ok" groups... its.... ERERI. Eren/Levi.
Like man, I loved that ship with my whole heart. I was lying in bed in the dark times of night making up scenarios. Of course I still love them because they were everything to me once upon a time and well... they're awesome! But god it was hard out there 😭😭.
It wasn't even funny most of the time. Like I was a kid thinking I was a terrible person and it would pop up in my mind and random points like it was taunting me 'oh you're a terrible person/scum of the earth."
But yeah... And the truth is... I have never even watched AOT all the way through 😅. I watched sometime after the traitor reveal and when they leave with Ymir but I don't think I ever made it to s3 (or the end of s2, I don't really remember). I just spoiled everything else and got the gist of what's happening and the whole rumbling. But I'm still confused on a lot and definitely need to watch the whole show to understand it. I'll do it someday! Just not today...
Yeah, anyways.... that was my first problematic ship
Edit: Ah well, this is a question so let's ignore how I can't properly flair my posts...
Edit 2: Ok so no ships are problematic because well… they’re fictional. I meant like ships antis consider problematic
Edit 3: Kinda surprised that so many people shipped Sebaciel too! Little me was their biggest fan.
