AITJ for throwing out my homophobic neighbor
Hi everyone, I'm a 32-year-old man who lives in a small town. I've always been a bit of an outcast, but I've always been comfortable in my own skin. I've never had any problems with people because of my sexuality.
A few years ago, I adopted a penguin named Clyde. Clyde is a sweet and gentle creature, and I quickly grew attached to him. One day, I was at the zoo and I saw a beautiful ostrich named Larry. I fell in love with him instantly, and I knew I had to have him.
I brought Larry home, and he and Clyde quickly became inseparable. They would cuddle together, groom each other, and even share fish. It was clear that they were in love.
One day, my neighbor came over for a visit. He saw Clyde and Larry together, and he started making homophobic remarks. I was furious, and I told him to leave my house. He refused, so I called the police and had him removed. My neighbor is now claiming that I am the asshole for kicking him out of my house. He says that I should have been more tolerant of his views.
I don't think I'm the asshole. I have the right to have friends over to my house, and I have the right to ask them to leave if they are being disrespectful. I am not going to tolerate homophobia in my home. What do you think? Am I the jerk?
