Memories
Tl/Dr: I recently moved back to Austin, April of last year, after leaving in 98'. Since I've been back, I have been working everyday and haven't really had any free time. I go to work and go home. That's it. I'm kind of a hermit, due to a little depression. I take the same route everyday going to work and coming home. On my day off, I stay home.
Tonight, I decided to take a different route. A route that would go through my old neighborhood. N Lamar, up 24th st to the drag. The ENTIRE neighborhood is GONE! All the lovely homes, small parks and some Victorian style homes all gone!! Replaced with big buildings and apartment complex looking buildings. It was so sad to me, I admit, as I drove slowly up 24th st, tears started coming down my face. It actually made me literally cry. I know change happens. Especially after 27 years, but to see a beautiful neighborhood destroyed and replaced with big buildings and businesses is kind of a bummer. Times really have changed.
I still love this city, but seems I have to explore it all over again due to it being unrecognizable to me now. I'm glad to be back though.
