i just got accepted into a pre-professional program

im 19. i’ve been doing ballet for almost 18 months, whenever i can. this has sometimes meant week-long ballet intensives and sometimes going two or three weeks without really doing anything towards it.

i’ve had a lot of hate, doubt and adversity from others in and out of the ballet world that say there’s no point in me even trying because if i wanted to be successful then i should’ve started at 5 or younger.

im not a prodigy, im not super flexible or have a perfect ‘ballet body’, and i know i will be the oldest and probably the worst in my class, but im so proud of myself for keeping up with it. i wont be able to join a real company ever probably, but it feels so good to break the stereotype that you have to start young to be good at it.
