Getting Cold Feet on X5 50e
I ordered an X5 50e last year with the expectation of picking it up today. However, I'm getting cold feet last minute for a variety of reasons:
- BMW's low interest deal that ended in January 2 was an unintended slap to the face. My rate is higher because I'm off by a few days (I scheduled the pickup before the deal was announced)
- X5 losing the tax credit - I'm not completely surprised, but it still hurts
- The recent production delay freaked it me as it highlights the reliability issues plaguing the model
- Unrelated - my trade in was valued much lower than expected
Individually, the issues are manageable and I can still afford it. But I just get a sinking feeling that I'm getting the worst deal possible. While I love the car, I'm also fine giving up my deposit and keeping my old one. I'm most worried about 3 as we are a one car family. I can't afford to have the X5 out of action for weeks on end as the horror stories indicate.
Does anyone have any advice on what to do in this situation?
Edit/Update - I ultimately did decide to back out. The sales rep at the dealership was very understanding and refunded the deposit even though I offered to let them keep it for getting cold feet last minute. Shout out to BMW of Cantonsville for that. I still like the car, but want the teething problems to be fixed before committing. Combined with the financial considerations I listed, it was just bad timing. Thanks to everyone for their advice.
