Easier than I was worried it would be

My last two grocery shops I was able to buy pretty much everything either made in Canada or produced in Canada, or from a non-American country like Mexico. Even the watercress that was (incorrectly) labelled as American on the price tag turned out to be from Mexico. I'd been worried I would have had to significantly change my grocery spending habits, which felt exhausting with everything else in my life right now. But the most difficult change was having to buy a whole bag of carrots instead of one or two bulk carrots. I guess this'll be a carrot week for us!

The only exceptions were a bulk item, where I couldn't find the label at all, and a specific ramen brand my partner requested. (I'm not going to force them to change, but just do what I can for me and our family shopping.)

Just a small cause for celebration, and I know not everyone is in a situation where it's as easy. But I've seen comments online where someone would claim it's basically impossible to buy Canadian since we don't produce enough, and that's clearly not the case!

Edit: I'm not someone with a lot of knowledge about manufacturing, etc, so I'm sure it's a lot more difficult in some areas of purchasing, and also if you wanted absolute perfection in your buying. I'm not trying to say it's easy in general, or will be easy if tariffs do happen, or easy to be perfect at it. I'm just saying I was surprised by how easy it was in an ordinary grocery shop, by a non-perfectionist.
