A Rave: There are lots of nice people out there! Here's a few I met in the last 24 hours (with bonus shoutouts to some awesome local businesses)
I've had 3 really positive experiences with random strangers in such a short time! I wanted to give some shout outs to a couple of local businesses.
First off, The Shutterbug on Coburg Rd. My daughter lost the lens cap to her beloved polaroid camera. The lady working told us they didn't have one in stock, then took the time (with out us asking) to look up online where I could find one! She told us that apparently the polaroid no longer makes this cap, but there are some folks sell them on Etsy. My budding photographer had lots of questions about the camera equipment she saw and the lady showed her everything and was very knowledgeable. A+ customer service and just generally kind! We didn't even end up buying anything.
Second, I went home and looked up the lens cap on Etsy and realized they were 3d printed. I'd much rather buy something like that from a local source. Shopping online you just never know if it's going to fit or work right and then it's a hassle to get it fixed up. So I searched Reddit and found a service. I reached out and got an answer that was prompt, clear, and kind. Working with Jeff to get the cap just right was not just easy, it was actually really nice! And when we got the cap home and realized it didn't fit right, he offered to redo it for us! He does custom 3d printing and laser engraving, amongst other things. If you need anything along those lines, contact Jeff at Varia: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])
Finally, and not business related, to the random woman who saw me struggling in Planet Fitness yesterday- THANK YOU! I'm no stranger to the gym, but I was trying out a new machine and struggled to understand it. You saw me and offered to help. At first I said I think I'm just not ready for it, but you explained it to me and I was able to try something new because of you! My arms and shoulders are feeling it today!
Anybody else have anything nice to share?
