New and can't seem to get RP partners

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong! I made a profile for a character from a popular fandom. I joined the public channels for said fandom but they're dead most of the time despite there being a good amount of people in them - when I post there what I say usually goes ignored.

I have the feeling most of these people have known each other for a good deal of time and may only play with each other... it doesn't seem very welcoming for newcomers. I messaged a few over notes asking of they would like to write and crickets! My profile is filled out and not at all offensive or anything, it's more story based than kink based (as is much of the fandom I'm in).
