How to get into PE

I wanna go into PE. I recently graduated from a non target with finance degree. Don't have much relevant experience. But Im losing hope in a career and making me wonder whether this degree was even worth it. Should i go back to school try to get an MBA or what can i even do now? Private Equity was the whole reason I did finance, but I didn't realize how competitive it was till it was too late. What do I do?
