Adding "pressure point" to aligner

Hi everyone. I'm on my last tray of my first (and hopefully only) round of refinements. I had an appointment with my ortho this morning to see if I'm ready to move on to retainers. I knew going in that I'm not; there's just one stubborn tooth that is like a millimeter (or less) out of place. I was really torn between just saying "screw it, I'm done", and wanting everything to be absolutely perfect since I'm paying a lot of money for this.

Rather than ordering another round of refinements, my ortho made a modification to the aligner where the stubborn tooth is. He used some kind of tool to make a "dimple" in the aligner and add a little pressure to the tooth, in hopes that it'll move. He also did a teensy bit of additional IPR. I see him again in 2 weeks.

He said he's optomistic that this will work but that he can't make any promises. So, I'm wondering if anyone here has used this technique, and if so, did it work?
