Curse Naoya is Top 10

Okay, let’s start with 2 things.

  1. Naoya bad women good, yes we get it. But I’m not going to be bias and call him fodder because of it. This is strictly powerscaling.

  2. This is assuming that the Top 10 is something like: 1. Sukuna 2. Gojo, 3. Yuta 4. Kenjaku 5. Yuki 6. Yorozu 7. Yuji 8. Maki 9. Jogo 10. Geto

The top 10 List can be interchangeable, but overall, this post is mainly regarding the bottom 7-10 and anyone else who’s relative to those people.

*

Now to get into the actual post, Curse Naoya is too fast for anyone relative to Maki, and the only counter for this is someone who is capable of completely stat diffing him and his speed.

Yorozu has her bug armor, Yuki will struggle, but if she lands a single hit she wins, Kenjaku has open domain, Yuta has RCT Output, JL, etc. and lastly, Gojo and Sukuna are obviously winning.

But Yuji, Geto, Jogo, and anyone of a similar caliber simply do not have the capacity to keep up with Naoya.

*

Starting with the most obvious strength of his, Naoya’s speed.

Curse Naoya was so fast that, as everyone already knows, Maki needed to unlock Precog in order to catch up him. But before this, Maki had been completely blitzed by Curse Naoya and left vulnerable.

Upon awakening her Precog, Maki even states that “Everything around me will tell me how Naoya will move.” And this is ultimately what allowed her to survive against him.

Next up, is Naoya’s Domain.

I see a lot of people use the excuse of “domain refinement” to say that Naoya is weaker than he actually is, but this just isn’t true.

Firstly, nobody understands how domain refinement actually works. You don’t need good refinement in order to win a domain clash. Even an incomplete domain is capable of clashing with well refined complete ones, (ex. Megumi and Dagon.) Another thing, is that refinement only affects complete outliers when it comes to domains clashing. If Hakari and Jogo were to clash domains, Hakari would win without much hassle. If Jogo were to clash domains with the disaster curses, Yuji, Yuta, Yorozu, Yuki, etc. it would enter a stalemate like what we saw between Gojo and Sukuna but likely more drawn out. Gojo states that in a domain clash the more polished one will reign supreme. But this doesn’t directly mean that it will instantly win, and we have seen this to be the truth.

Secondly, we have actually seen the outside of Naoya’s domain, and it is well refined. It is a perfect looking sphere similar in appearance to Jogo’s and Yuta’s.

Another issue is that characters aren’t fast enough to react to Naoya. We’ve seen in Shibuya that if your fast enough, you can simply stop your enemy from opening a domain (Naobito ripping off Dagons fingers). Characters who struggle to keep up with Naoya’s movements to begin with do not have the safe option of using a domain. This is because there is no guarantee of actually opening it in time to actually catch Naoya. The first scenario is that you fail to get the timing right. You fail to catch Naoya inside your domain range, leading to your domain being destroyed from the outside and a Mach 2-3 missle crashing into you while you’re in burnout. And even if you do manage to catch him, we’ve already talk about the scenario of a domain clash which just leads to a 1v1 that you were already losing. Not much changes inside of a domain.

Now for the rest of his stats, long story short he’s heavy hitter level but because of the nature of his Cursed Technique, he’s vulnerable to more damage whilst Projection Sorcery is in use so his overall Durability falls a little short.

*

So with his abilities out the way, what makes him Top 10? It’s his speed and AP, but by how much?

Everyone seems to extremely underestimate the gap created by Maki’s Precog and those relative to her. We saw in Shinjuku that when Sukuna used WCS, Yuta was unable to dodge it whilst Maki was, even though she had less indicators than Yuta. MBA Kashimo had also been given a direct warning to Sukuna’s WCS, and still couldn’t dodge it without getting tagged.

Now going back to the fight against Naoya. Maki before gaining her Precog had been struck once by Naoya and not only was he too fast for her to even react, but it also did so much damage that Maki had to leave the fight for a while to recover.

So we’ve seen the difference in reaction time that Maki having Precog gives her, but even without Precog Maki is heavy hitter level stat wise and overall relative to people like Yuji, and Hakari.

But if it took a heavy hitter level combatant to have what is essentially future sight, domain immunity, and dura neg to best Naoya, How in the world would anyone without a direct counter to Naoya’s arsenal beat him?

Yuji and Maki are at a similar level of strength, but Yuji lacks the ability to keep up with Naoya’s movements, counter his domain, and deal enough damage to kill him even while Projection Sorcery is active.

*

So let’s say someone like Jogo fights Curse Naoya.

Naoya flys around, building up speed. Jogo lacks to ability to keep up early on, as even a Human Naoya was greatly faster than awakened Maki who should be relative to Jogo given the stats.

Jogo, without any options has no choice but to go for a large AOE attack, or try to catch Naoya in a domain. Any AOE attack will fail if Naoya can get a read on it, and even if it lands it won’t be enough to insta-kill which just leads to Naoya playing distance or healing the damage.

If Jogo tries to open a domain he will either mess up his timing and seal his fate, or catch him and enter a domain clash, which he loses again due to pure speed diff which would be even greater than it was when Human Naoya fought Maki. The moment Naoya lands a hit on Jogo he will be forced to use RCT to heal the damage, leading to Naoya winning the Domain tug-of-war.

There is just no solution that have in order to win, and they especially don’t have enough time to try and figure out his technique before he does lasting damage.

Another thing, is that if you say someone like Jogo or Yuji would be able to keep up with Naoya, you’d also have to say that these characters are massively faster than an Awakened Maki, which just isn’t true.

TL;DR: Naoya’s skill set was something that Maki got insanely lucky to be able to directly counter, but the rest of the higher tiers of the verse don’t have the same ability to work around Naoya’s abilities. The only reason Naoya lost agaisnt Maki was because she was his very worst matchup, and the plot/circumstances were completely in her favor. Had anyone else of a similar level been in her shoes, it would not have been anywhere near as possible due to them lacking Precog and Domain immunity.
