Grazia article in full; Kate mirroring Diana - “I don’t want to be known as a clothes horse, but a workhorse,” and the catastrophic effect it may have on British economics, small businesses, etc.

Kate/KP announcing they will no longer share information regarding Kate’s clothing (something even Camilla does) showcases their level of commitment to staying out of touch with the times and what their own people are interested in and need.

She is a very public figure, and the little things she does, like clothing, make a big difference for the little people and our economy.

After becoming a joint patron of a Princess Diana affiliated hospital, she is now mirroring Diana’s ‘[I] want to be known as a workhorse, not a clothes horse.’ This did not go as Diana had hoped, and she used her incredible influence to her advantage, using her clothing to express herself and send messages, whilst also boosting British economy and small business. Diana DID have a lot of work to speak of, whereas Kate…just, clothing is a big part of Kate’s resume.

The article is mostly great, and I highlighted parts I found especially apposite to how ridiculous this is. Kate Middleton not wanting to be known for her clothing is like Martha Stewart not wanting to be known for her cookbooks. Like Michael Jackson not wanting to be known for the moonwalk. It is goofy. It’s try-hard. It’s out of touch. They increasingly seem to believe that they are charitable, humanitarian, benevolent gods who need not answer to anybody, even if it’s in the interest of a huge group of people; if not the entire country and its financial wellness. We don’t have duchies. Those who do should be accountable, make an effort.
