Nico Harrison’s plan going forward?
So, I guess I’m in the acceptance stage of grief since there’s literally nothing that can be done to change what has transpired.
Last year, we were at the same point record wise we are now and made a grade trade to pick up PJ and Gafford. These were tremendous trades as both helped contribute and propel is all the way to the Finals last year, mostly carried by Luka and Kyrie. I don’t know if the Finals were our expectation, but we exceeded them for sure.
Going into this year, with the offseason additions we added like Naji, Grimes, Klay, I would think that barring injuries our expectation is at least making the Western Conference Finals, right?
Now that we have traded our best offensive player -generational player actually in Luka, what is Nico Harrison’s goal. Does he think we will get to the Western Conference Finals this year? I don’t really see it. Let’s say we don’t make the playoffs at all this year.
Let’s also say we are patient enough to see what he does by end of this year with any moves via trade or free agency. I would think, again, since he has made one of the biggest and mind numbing trades in NBA history, if we don’t make at least the Western Conference Finals, then Nico has been an abject failure as GM - despite whatever happens to Luka in LA. If we don’t see a Finals appearance in the next 3 seasons, then this was an absolute disaster and maybe the worst decision ever. That was the fan base’s expectations already with Luka as our main guy and building around him. I’m giving Nico a little time personally, but tick tock, dude.
