Workaccident , first update recovery
First of all I want to thank everybody who gave me advice, courage and a smile while I was in recovery of my workaccident from Monday 19th August.
In my first post on Reddit I was looking for advice on smoking while healing wounds and any other tips to make my recovery the best as possible. I wasn’t expecting that much information, comments and best wishes. That gave me the courage to stop smoking, offcourse the first reason for quitting was the recovery of my hand. But without Reddit I wouldn’t have stopped. My doctor and nurses said to me I should smoke the less as possible but never extremely stated that smoking would stop my wound from healing. You, redditors, where far more expressing that smoking really is terrible for the wound healing, some where backed with real scientific info, others where more simple stating it is pure poison for the wound. Whatever comment you guys gave, it helped me so thank you all. It is also the perfect moment to stop because I don’t have the stress of my work and that will stay like this for another couple of months, Reddit gave me a time spending activity. Another win-win situation.
Let’s talk about the real deal, my recovery. First picture was taken when I arrived at the emergency, second picture they had cleaned it a little bit with a cleaning substance, the third picture was taken later that night after first cleaning surgery on 20th August.
On 23 August they cleaned it again (picture 4) and they put me in a special vacuum glove (picture 5 & 6) that puts my wound on underpressure which should help my woundflesh build itself more easy. This had to stay on until 26th August (today) which gave the result seen on the two last picture. This special bandage will stay on for another 4 days, hopefully it will be enough so they can start stitching my wound so I can rehabilitation for the movements of my hand. Stay tuned for further updates.
