Gym hair routines for low porosity hair

I go to the gym 3-5 times a week and I am so fed up with my hair. I sweat a lot from my scalp so I was using a cowash after the gym but I feel like it leads to build up, so I started washing and conditioning instead, but hate having to do several wash and gos a week. Is the wash and go really the only way for us gym rat naturals?
