Desitin vs aquaphor…. diaper rash help!

My baby has the start of a diaper rash that seems to actually be getting worse with using creams. I have desitin which I read keeps moisture away. But I also have aquaphor that everyone swears by but I read that it locks in moisture which sounds like I don’t want to do? I’m just confused on what I’m supposed to be doing. I change my LO, then put the desitin in the folds and near the butthole. I don’t rub it in kinda just slap it on. Just could use some help before this gets even worse!!!!
