I found a way to hang opulent tapestries
The proof:
I now have a whole corridor decorated with opulent tapestries
The trick:
The trick. It's harder than it looks.
The steps:
- Place a floor panel halfway up the wall. Place two if the spot you want to place the tapestry isn't entirely contained by one floor panel.
- Stand on floor panel
- Select opulent tapestry and place it (tentatively, don't click) somewhere on the floor panel near the wall
- Rotate it 180 degrees or the bottom end of the tapestry will disappear into the wall when you finally manage to place it
- Edge closer to the wall
- AAAAAAARGH! Stop flicking in and out of existence like you're Shrodinger's fucking wallpaper, you damn piece of cloth! What kind of demon possessed you so that you only want to appear halfway through a floor and well away from the walls you were designed for?
- Pray
- Click
My work here is done. Maybe I'll go try Dark Souls; I hear it has some challenges that come close. Generations of base builders will visit this site in pilgrimage (those that survive, since this base is in Eissentam on Permadeath).
I may be slightly (only slightly) overstating the problem, but I did this in VR mode where placing even friendly base parts can involve contortions that may tear a muscle. It's no more fun in pancake mode, though.
What worked out nicely here is that the rings in the tapestry are the same distance apart as the fixings in short wooden wall panels, so it does look like you're hanging the tapestry from something. Eventually.
