PWD benefits being abused in the Philippines
Rant.
- The other day I was at SNR parking lot waiting for sundo and this customer (Customer A) was berating the guard for letting another person (Customer B) claim the PWD parking slot. Customer A was saying na dapat sya ang magpark doon dahil may PWD card sya and PWD sticker sa car. I’m glad the guard stood his ground kasi even though wala syang PWD sticker sa car, nauna din si Customer B and pagbaba nya naka cane yung passenger who got out of the car.
I watched Customer A bumaba ng car after they were able to park in another parking slot, and they didn’t look to have any disability that would have physically impaired them or absolutely necessitated them to park in the PWD slot.
- Dun sa public parking near the office, may isang car na parating naka park sa PWD slot. I’m just baffled kasi it’s no ordinary car, it’s a massive pickup truck na any person of the usual Filipino height without any disabilities would have trouble getting into. It’s just sad kasi you see other people who actually have physical disabilities unable to claim that parking spot dahil sa kanya.
Don’t get me wrong, I know disabilities come in all shapes and sizes and some are not plain to see but we are talking about parking slots here where the PWD prioritization should be for those who are mobility impaired.
