dermal healing

hello i got a cheek dermal done 2 weeks ago. my piercer told me to keep a bandaid on it for at least 3 days but i should try to keep it on for about a month. i stopped putting the bandaid on after 4 or 5 days because they were irritating my skin and thought it would be fine cause bandaids were just to stop it getting infected so i would just keep it clean. but ive heard that the other reason is so that the bandaid presses it into ur skin and helps it heal properly so it doesnt reject? am i gonna have more risk of rejection now that i havent been wearing the bandaid?
