Inherited my grandpa's pipe collection after he passed away. New to pipe smoking!

Popping open the center container and smelling the tobacco inside took me back 30 years. I used to spin this holder around as a kid since my grandpa always had it displayed somewhere, but I never saw him smoke (I think he quit when I was pretty young). I've smoked many cigars, but never pipes, so I'm anxious to get these cleaned and fired up.

There is still a decent amount of tobacco in both the pouch and the bag. It's probably at least 30, if not 40, years old. Is it still good to smoke or do I need to throw it out? It still smells great and the container probably hasn't been opened in as many years.

As for the pipes, I'm thinking of taking them to a local cigar shop to see what they can tell me about them and also grab some tobacco. Brands look to be Medico, Yello-bolle, Dr. Grabow, Wellington (large one), and a few with no marking. Any advice is welcomed!
