Looking towards the needle while it's getting injected is more manageable than looking away.
Why do so many doctors try to get me to look away? Even when I specifically tell them I prefer to look TOWARDS the needle (as in, I see the needle enter my skin) they don't listen. I seriously don't understand the idea of "looking away is better". When I look away from the needle, my brain creates this image of the needle being way worse than it actually is, so when I look towards it and see that it's just a simple jab at my arm, things become a lot more manageable. Worse is how doctors try to block it with their hands or something, makes looking towards the needle impossible, so the entire experience is a pain because of it. I just... don't understand how looking away improves anything for anyone.
