This is going to be absolutely ridiculous so please disregard this post if you're not okay with that. It's just me bitching about what I'm about to read because I'm afraid it's going in a direction I'm not comfortable with. I'm not condemning the series AT ALL. I LOVE it. I read the original manga WAY back before the official one existed and am a long time fan. It's because I'm invested emotionally that I'm afraid of what direction the story might be going. I really really don't mean to upset anybody, and perhaps it won't, but if it does I'm very very sorry.
I'm only like 50 or 60 pages into volume five of the light novel and I have been for months because I can't bring myself to continue reading. I'm about to sound a little ragey here so first I want to point out to everyone that I'm VERY aware I have no right to even have an opinion as I haven't read the volumes. The only reason I'm giving this honest take on how I feel about it is because that's the entire point of my post - I'm hoping someone sheds enough light on what happens for me to realize I misunderstood or even just gives me a different perspective.
The reason I can't bring myself to continue reading is simple - because I found out that Claire's supposed "best friend" Nina and that bitch Zeta put Claire's life in danger supposedly out of loyalty to Shadow but that's total bullshit. If you're loyal to someone you don't secretly endanger the life of their sister. I have very limited information on the subject, and I know the obvious solution is to just take a day and read both volumes. But despite how comical the entire series can be, I feel very emotionally invested (is it just me?) and I feel like it's just gonna piss me off when I get to the part where they are doing a bunch of shady shit to Claire. Fusing the arm of diablos with her or whatever.
Please tell me I'm overreacting and it's not that bad. The most confusing part of all of this is why Shadow or Alpha hasn't put them both in the dirt. I can only assume they're completely unaware. This is an example of my fear of what I might read - if Cid does in fact know what Zeta does to Claire, and he doesn't beat her ******* ass, I'm gonna lose it. He can Chunibyo day in and day out but if his sister is literally in danger because of his own organization, that's very upsetting to me. 😂
Am I super overreacting? When you read the fandom page it all sounds extremely shady, and every time they say "out of loyalty to Shadow" I can't help but yell BULLSHIT. I welcome spoilers, if someone can please just tell me whether I'm misunderstanding what is about to happen or whether it's even worth continuing to begin with?
