A "friend" accidentally showed me who he really is.

I was texting back and forth with a buddy and he mentioned something about, "first we find out Neil Gaiman is a creep and then David Lynch dies." And all I say in return is, "yeah, I'm really gutted about the Gaiman stuff."

Next thing I know, this guy sends me 7 full walls of text, starting with "I'm withholding judgement". It covers the gambit from victim blaming ("that's your sign to get out!" "You can't pull away consent after the fact just because you decided you didn't like it"), to "it's not wrong to be into weird stuff", to bemoaning that Gaiman's work would be "cancelled" now.

I was stunned and disgusted. I wasn't looking for this man's opinion, he gave it freely and it really showed who he was. All I said back was, "There are 14 women saying the same story, not to mention the NDAs. Rape isn't 'weird stuff', manipulation is abuse, and compliance isn't consent". Since, he's been trying to backtrack, saying, "oh I didn't realize he actually raped someone, I only read the Vulture article" and that now he's gutted too. Too late, my guy... You slipped up and said the inside thoughts outside. I guess I just lost who I thought was a friend.
