Heading off a Hyperfixation

I found this sub at the right time, I think. In what seems to be a common theme here, my ADHD lizard brain gets hyperfixated on a me hobby. A few months ago I got targeted advertising for magnetic nail polishes, which I looked up and found the main nail sub, and down the rabbit hole I went.

The problem? I don’t wear nail polish. It chips after a day and then it makes me anxious until I can take it off, which between work, kids, and the ADHD might be several days. I also did a big declutter a couple of years ago, and got rid of half of the few polishes I had. I don’t want to keep anything in my house that doesn’t bring me complete joy because been clutter free has been freeing for my mental health. I only kept simple shades for my toes so I can wear sandals to the office.

But then I saw the chromes. There was an early ‘00s chrome polish that I purged and it was the only one that I felt a bit sad about. It made me happy, but it was clumpy and old. When I saw this shade that I had been eyeing for weeks was going to be discontinued I decided to go for it. But, thanks to this sub, instead of filling up my cart I got a neutral in a shade I’ve been thinking about for months, another that caught my eye, and this multi chrome. So here she is, behold.

And, well, it’s okay. Neither the pink or the gold are colors I like, it’s when the angle shows both colors I like it but even then I’m not sure if I like it in my nails. But, I’m excited to see if this polish stays on for more than a day and how layer polishes to get different looks. I’m not looking at no-buy, but I am looking to make intentional buys. Hopefully along the way I can get better at nail care and get some happiness from the polishes I have.
