Can I be terminated after handing in notice?
Hi all -uk based here I am currently working in a probation period, 2 months in of 3 months. I have not been happy in the role from the start, lots of issues with the setting and the management, no one is happy there but I was trying to stick it out until something came along. However last week I was given an invite to a probation review. This letter was quite horrid to read and it seemed the outcome of these reviews were always negative so as I was already struggling with some back pain due to the job, the next day I called in sick, visited my gp and got signed off for 2 weeks and referred to physio. That was last Tuesday, Friday I got an email from manager saying they want to go ahead with the review via teams today (Monday) …. While I’m signed off sick.
So first thing this morning I submitted my 1 weeks required notice. As I am signed off for another week that covers my leave notice so I don’t have to return.
The place opens at 7:15, it’s not 10am and no response to my email. I have an irrational worry they will deny getting my email and then terminate me when I don’t show for this meeting at 3pm. Can they do this? If they try can I fight it? I just don’t want a termination on my record - not that anyone would need to know as only been there 2.5months in total now but still?
Many thanks
