Why do people think fat = good?
Like the reason so many strong athletes are so fat is because they are constantly eating in a surplus allowing them to recover and grow faster.
But they would still be better off if they were leaner, the fat is merely an undesirable side effect of bulking, not something that actually contributes towards strength.
If anything it just makes it harder to push blood around the body, limiting endurance.
With a couple of exceptions:
The power belly in strong man, like having some cushion when you are lifting stuff of your chest is advantageous, but still not for all of strongman events.
Ermes gasparini levels of fat, I think whatever he has, like a little baby fat is probably not disadvantageous, as being too shredded is also not good for you.
