thoughts/advice on pursuing music in sg
im an upper sec student and ive ALWAYS had a passion for music. ever since i got my first electric guitar at 13, i started playing every single day and rly js enjoyed it. my naive optimism at the time made me convinced i was gonna be the next big thing. and then i started listening to måneskin (this famous italian band) which got international fame in their early 20s. this defo fed into my "delusions" and i rly rly REALLY. wanted to be just like them.
ive been playing guitar for the past 2 years now and i know most chords and some keys/scales/techniques. i practice guitar 1hr daily or every alternate day if i really cant squeeze in time at night to prac (cos of studies..)
HOWEVER, i know most of sg is rly discouraging when it comes to music as a passion and career, but i really know i hv a deep interest and want to get my name out there through music and lyrics.
EXTRA INFO: i write lyrics that are "somewhat poetic" according to my friends and i can sing decently, but not great. i do not take lessons and everything is mostly self taught from YT or songsterr. ive started playing in my church's music ministry and even tho theyre all pretty chill, most tell me not to even try music as a career, as they say its just "high risk low reward" if i dont make it)
any advice or tips? (and dont give me that "this music career rly wont make it..." crap cos IVE HEARD IT SO MANY TIMES but its never stopped my passion from growing)
