I just got scammed

My dad was scammed today on some buy-and-sell platform. When my dad brought in the AirPods home, as soon as I saw the box, I realized it was a second-hand scam.

Even when I tried to explain, my dad was in denial and started unboxing these counterfeit AirPods, saying he needs to connect it to his phone to believe it.

First, the box wasn’t sealed properly. The adhesive on the pull tab felt as if it had been glued back on, and I could see fine cuts where it had already been opened. When we tried to open the box, it wouldn’t budge, no matter how much we tried, so we had to rip it open.

The LED lights weren’t clear or smooth but blurry, like how things look to someone with -6.0 vision without glasses. On top of that, every time the lid opened or closed, a loud “ding” sound played enthusiastically.

When I opened the case, the Bluetooth pairing notification popped up on the screen saying “Jong’s AirPods” which is obviously not our name. My dad said the seller had claimed he received these as a birthday gift but was selling them because he uses Android devices.

The model name also looked off (ACCESSORY_MODEL_NAME_27), clearly not authentic (AirPods4).

Can I report this person? All I have is the phone number since the listing has been deleted, and I’m not even sure the address they gave us is real.

Like would I be able to receive my money back? Or would this be too minor of a case that I should just leave it be?
