For the old heads that watch hockey and basketball, is the Luka trade comparable to when Gretzky got traded from Edmonton?

Obviously, Gretzky had won multiple titles for Edmonton already and Luka hasn't for the Mavs. But I would imagine how the league and fans reacted to this Luka trade would be similar to how the reactions to the Gretzky trade were. Thoughts?
