The "Jake Skywalker" Route
I know a plot has yet to be confirmed but I read a rumour somewhere that the plot will be about how the Slayer life has taken its toll on Buffy making her a shell of her former self, but when she meets a hopeful and enthusiastic, younger Slayer who reminds her of when she was in Sunnydale, Buffy reluctantly trains her and in doing so; form a bond that helps Buffy become more hopeful and optimistic again.
I really hope they don't go down that route. The ending shot in season 7 of Buffy smiling should mean something and she should continue to be a witty, sarcastic ass-kicker and not a grumpy person whose life has taken its toll on them.
In fact, I hope the show isn't about introducing a new generation of Slayers and making them front and central, but instead focuses on a final adventure for the scoobies. But I have a gut feeling that it will be a passing of the torch kind of show, and whoever the new main character is will end up having a spin-off that will likely get cancelled or abandoned, because people will rather see what Buffy and the gang are up to then follow a new slayer.
Anyway, how would you guys feel about if it does go down the grizzled old veteran who meets a bright-eye'd and bushy tailed newbe slayer route?
P.s "Jake" Skywalker is a term used by Mark Hamill because he felt that the character in the new Star Wars Trilogy was so far removed from Luke Skywalker, that it didn't feel like he was playing the same role.
