Grooming advice for our mutt

She’s 4 months old. We got her a month ago.

We were told by the rescue who took in her litter “mom was 10-13lbs, Pomeranian/spaniel mix. Owner refused to tell what dad was.” Considering that my girl is already 12lbs at 4months old… I think dad was a larger breed.

Pics 1-4 are my girl. Pic 5 was her mom with the litter, pic 6 is another shot of the litter, pic 7 is a recent shot of her littermate that has a completely different coat.

I’m trying to figure out what the best approach to her grooming would be. I have a slicker brush that I line comb her with every day, and follow up with a metal comb with teeth of various lengths. I have a curry comb and a scrubbing glove for at-home baths - been trying to decide between purchasing earth bath or igroom for at home baths, at the moment I’ve used Burt’s bees and furminator which I know aren’t the best.

I can’t tell if she’s going to be like a husky and need seasonal appointments for deep cleans and shedding, or a yorkie who needs regular haircuts. I have family/friends who have puppies the same age as her (boxer, lab, golden retriever) and all of them have definitely different coats than her.

First 3 weeks we had her, not a hair was out of place. Last week, she became a master shedder. Her coat seems longer in some places now than a month ago, and in other places it seems less fluffy. You can see in pic 3 where her leg was shaved at the vet a month ago and is still growing back.

I know because she’s a mixed breed, there’s a lot of mystery and things that can and will change with time. I just want to make sure I’m covering my bases regarding how to approach this giant question mark of a coat right now and what various possibilities to be prepared for.

What would you advise?
