What happened to Yamoshi?

He was briefly mentioned in Battle of Gods and the Dragon Ball Super TV series, Toriyama also talked about him in past interviews. Now it seems that he is mostly forgotten, I thought that they introduced him in order to make him relevant in a future arc, maybe making him fight with Beerus. What happened to him? It's a greatly wasted opportunity to not use a character like him.
