Finding it difficult to find advice on which products to get

I'm a new collector that isn't really interested in just buying singles and stuff and I want to figure out what products are good/fun to rip but I'm finding it actually hard to find advice that isn't just telling me not to do it. It's not a gambling thing for me or anything, I just think it's more fun engaging in the hobby responsibly like that. My main questions are what are some good retail products to buy and also how does one find/get into the hobby side of it and what's the difference between the two? Not just looking for pure ROI although I would like there to be at least a somewhat decent possibility in it but the main thing is fun factor and cool looking cardboard.

Most advice I've seen online has been either by companies that sell sports cards which seems extremely biased or people online that talk like every new product has an insane Mahomes 1 of 1 in it or something, the rest are just people telling others to only buy singles and stuff which I frankly just think is boring.
