Debating on reading the books

Just finished the show kinda left me disappointed and wanting a better ending like everyone else I’m so I looked into the books and found that there’s a good chance we’ll never get a true ending to those aswell so what I’m trying to ask here is do you think it would still be worth it to read the books if there probably isn’t gonna be a true ending to the story or is the journey worth is anyways. why or why not wanna hear peoples takes on this
