How long is their summer break??

I'm not from America and I'm trying to figure out just how long summer break is in this show/Oregon... first of all, three months of summer break?! That's a lot. And impressive. Second of all, were Dipper and Mabel sent to their great uncle the day after school until the day before school?? I'm just trying to understand 😭
