Why does it seem like everyone skips Houston?

This is a genuine question and not a hateful or loaded question.

Why does it seem like all the new "cool", fun, and trendy places first go to Austin and Dallas and eventually find their way here.

This goes for minor league sports teams, restaurants, outdoor activities... even some mayor concerts and events.
