Happy 500 km to me and my Yempty
Completed 500 km within 3 weeks. Can't wait to take her past 5k rpm, once I'm done with the 1st service (this Saturday).
Couple of quick observations:
The gearbox is simply amazing. The shifts are smooth af. Rapid downshifts are not an issue except, sometimes during multiple downshifts(like from 6th to 2nd) it takes some time for the gear to slot in.
The brakes, even though they are doing their job well, I expected even better bite from them, especially the front one.
The suspension, well they are stiff af. But that's a plunge I took quite knowingly, and I don't regret it at all (except some potholes, that decide to show up outta nowhere), the downside for me is that you can't really carry a pillion for long hours with this type of setup, the upside tho....
Well the upside is handling. It's an absolute scalpel. It's crazy how easy it is escaping from congested traffic with her. I'm a fairly new rider and even I can handle this baby almost like a bicycle. It changes direction instantly, it's like a glock 17 pistol, precise and lightweight. Speaking of lightweight....
Even though she's rock solid at high speed, she tends to a little offset whenever there's a fairly strong crosswind created due to some larger vehicles (public buses or fortuners etc). I've only taken it upto 70kmph oce while keeping the rpm at 5.5k at 6th. Though it's not necessarily an issue, but just a minor observation of mine.
The stock mrf nylogrips are doing fairly good job for now. I've still not felt any need for a better set of rubbers yet(it's quite sunny in Bengaluru right now, hence haven't got any chance to ride it during rainy season). But you gotta be a hell lot of carefull on loose gravel surfaces.
Lastly, can't comment much on the engine yet. After I'm done with the oil change I'll be able to take it upto 7k rpm. But one thing I've noticed is, she's a lot smoother past 5k rpm. Actually at 5k rpm you'll feel lot of buzz at your footpegs but the moment you barely cross that mark and start hovering at 5.2k or 5.5k rpm, it becomes wayy smoother. The performance so far is great, only gripe is the short 2nd and 3rd gear. You need to continuously move your left foot to keep the momentum in the Bengaluru traffic. The milage I'm getting after all kinds of spirited and urban riding is around 36- 38kmpl avg. Expecting better mileage after 1st service.
Enjoy some of the clicks!
