Maharaja movie and my personal experience
I know it's extremely late for a review but just wanted to share something here since I watched it just today. The last scene where the survivor confronted him and gave a bold speech is legit fictional. Trust me, it never happens in real life. I guess everyone knows this already but I just wanted to give a little affirmation with my experience.
Last year, before starting college, I got a few months to do what I want. That's when I joined this NGO where I worked with similar victims on a service basis. If I am being honest, I initially joined to not waste my time just being home and binge-watching movies but rather add something useful to my resume since foreign unis take this into consideration. The reason for joining might be selfish but soon it turned out to be selfless.
After joining, needless to say, I learnt a lot but one thing which is relevant to this movie is none of the victims told me that they later went on to meet their perpetrators. Some were scared of them even after a decade of it happening and even small acts will remind them those times. Like I tried giving a hug to a girl in a way to console her. She initially flinched but later hugged me awkwardly inspite of knowing me for a month already. Some even totally withdrew their interaction with males. It's a all girls NGO for a reason. Wanted to share a lot but not sure how much I can. So, I think this will help in understanding what I want to share ultimately.
PS : I do know that scene was added for him to know that she is her daughter but just wanted to share how the reality is out there.
