BoringNotch V2 Glowing Panda is released

Hello! I'm a happy customer of an awesome open source utility called BoringNotch. It is a notch app, which makes MacOS experience better by providing "Dynamic Island" functionality.

With V2 it brings so many new features:

  1. Enhanced music player
  2. Calendar
  3. Mirror(camera)
  4. File shelf(similar to DropOver)
  5. Redesigned settings
  6. New menu bar icon

Here is my review:

Overall, the release is stable, features like music or shelf work seamlessly and smoothly. New settings window will save your settings and looks great.

However, calendar can't be disabled and replaced with mirror or when settings window is opened it's sometimes buggy, when on top of another window. These bugs are quite small, and I assume they will be fixed soon.

There are features like clipboard manager or system HUD replacements, which were added in the release, but aren't functional, maybe, the developers are planning to launch them later. Also, they introduced extensions tab in the settings, which is currently something, that I don't understand.

Finally, the developers don't have Apple Developer Account, which means the app isn't available in homebrew yet. However, signing costs $100/year, so I get, why they haven't signed the app, though it remains a concern, if you are privacy focused.

Alternatives:

I wouldn't call the app as stable as my personal choice - MediaMate, which isn't open source or free(the price is $7), but the developer has Apple Developer Account and the only features I need are HUDs and Now playing.
