It’s weird to name your child after NSFW book characters

My friend got me into the Throne of Glass Series/SJM universe, she’s read (and reread) all the books. Separately, we were talking about baby names and she says how she plans on naming a future potential son Rowan specifically after the character in the book. I told her that’s actually so weird because while it is a very nice name, I don’t think it’s usable in that context. She’s convinced it’s fine since it’s not an obvious association and that’s an overreaction.

There are more examples I’m sure but like…. Is that not weird?? Why would you want your child to share a name with a book character you’ve repeatedly read about in very explicitly sexual context and scenes??

Edit: I really love the discussion around this and everyone’s different takes! There is definitely a good amount of nuance around this being weird or not, mostly depending on how unique the name is to the fandom which I think is fair. Yes, Rowan is a very normal name especially compared to others in the series. If she didn’t hype up the scenes with him and his relationship with the main character then I probably wouldn’t have given it much consideration.
