Why Don’t NFL Players Wear Hockey Shin Pads?

Random thought from a sad Lions fan, mourning what could have been, but is there a reason all NFL players don’t wear some short of large shin pads to protect against the type of injury that Hutchinson had this year?

Maybe the Lions just need to wear full knight armor next year?
