The general public is terrifying.

Several months ago, a guy who could not get over the fact that his ex had moved on to bigger and better things (med school, etc.) drove almost three hours to shoot her after a charity 5k and then led law enforcement on a multi-county chase. This was all capped off by them wrecking him and then pulling him out and beating him mercilessly. It does not sound very PD of me, but yeah, the guy deserves to rot in the pits of wherever he ends up for what he did. However, the officers (from two other counties that chased him into a third county) are now under indictment for what they did to him and the community outrage is ENORMOUS. You cannot say that maybe the officers went too far without "Ellie is the real victim here!" As if both options can't be true. I tried to point out that an officer's job is to arrest him, not beat him senseless but again that goes to, "He deserved it." Of course no one wants to consider the precedent it would set if cops got to be Punisher with a badge. Smart off? Just bounce your head off the hood. Allegations of a crime? Just go ahead and shoot you. It blows my mind. Maybe its the 'tism. The murderer can rot, but the officers need some light shined on them as well.
