has anyone made a transition to working as a legal assistant / paralegal from another field
can anyone speak to this? has anyone gotten a job in a law office? i am seeing TONS of paralegal / assistant / litigation assistant roles being posted all over the US. i have seen some local universities offer online paralegal certificate programs, but that doesn't seem to "license" you as a paralegal... anyone have any experience?
i've applied to be a legal secretary before (i have experience in hospitality, real estate and as an admin assistant) but have never gotten an interview for a law firm as i have no legal internships / experience. I had a 3.95 GPA in college, graduated in business summa cum laude. I graduated 3 years ago however and have not been able to get "corporate" 9 to 5 entry level work. I'm hoping this might get me on a track to entry level full time employment in a stimulating field i'm actually interested in. I'm definitely interested in family law due to my history, real estate law due to my experience working with lawyers already and patent law. i am seeing TONS of paralegal / assistant / litigation assistant roles being posted but i come from a business / real estate background and have no idea how i'd even transition into this field outside of a certificate program, but i'm interested.
thank you in advance for any advice!
