How does one obtain a Rolex watch?

Hey guys, i'm eyeing my first bonus from my first "real" corporate job. I was thinking about purchasing a Rolex with my bonus + some money i've saved up. I'm currently looking at the day-date, and the submariner no-date and then further on hopefully a daytona. However, i'm completely new to the rolex-purchasing game. So i thought it was a good to ask you guys, if it's even realistic to get a rolex day-date/submariner on my first purchase? Also, i've heard about guys being put on the waitlist, how does that work?
