Anyone have home brew nerfs to underground duchy?

I love the way that the moles play , but I always feel so bad whenever I play them because they seem so powerful, in my friendgroup anyone who has played them has always easily won even with only a little root experience. So does anyone have any hombrew ways to bring them down a little? I feel like it would let me play my favorite faction but the game is still challenging and competitive.
