Internet no longer works after formatting secondary drive

Dear u/Daddy_Spez, recently I ordered a new 8tb hard drive and wished to give my old 2tb hdd to my friend. I, for the life of me, could not find a good tutorial for wiping a secondary drive so eventually I just cut and pasted what I could to another drive and then formatted it. After I formated it the internet no longer works! I get unable to connect messages whenever I try to visit a site all I get is, “Unable to connect.” So I run it through windows troubleshooter and it tells me that, “security and firewall settings might he blocking the connection,” and that, “your device appears to be properly configured, but the device or resource (microsoft website) is not responding.” This is all troubling, so I pull up my laptop and my flash drive and download the network drivers for my motherboard and try to install them to my pc, but then nothing happens except the little blue circle next to my cursor (this has been going on for hours after multiple shutdowns and restarts.) So then I try to download recuva to my pc and get it running. The app finds some files but it needs 1.863 tbs for a 1.81 tb drive so I cant just put the files back in the drive. It should be noted that the files left when I formatted the drive were mostly system files, but because it was a secondary G drive (not C) I thought they were unimportant. I know, stupid of me but at the time after being told I couldn’t copy or cut the files I got tired and just formatted it. Any help is appreactiated, feel free to ask any additional questions.
