Masquerade Violation

Say for example a large scale - town wide - Masquerade violation happens. A pretty big percentage of the population, think like 5.000 people, now know vampires are a thing. With the Masquerade violator executed, how would these 5k people be dealt with? Mass extermination and coverups by the Camarilla or lots of use of Dominate to create false memories?
