Wow, my therapist said she has no exper3inc3 with pre verbal stuff, but I'm sure I need to go there. How do you do it?

I would definitely either find a specialist who deals in pre-verbal trauma or ask your current therapist if they have referrals to therapists who do and if they have any suggestions for types of therapy or treatments you could seek out, therapists are usually very happy to help, my therapist before the intensive I did reached out to other therapists to find me someone more qualified and she still checks up on me! I also know basic things like CBT/DBT can be helpful if you’re having trouble coping.

Amazing thankyou! Did the effects last? And how did you choose what to target in the intensives?

My therapist/specialist was the one to figure out what to target especially because the trauma was pre-verbal I had no idea where to start or what the process looked like. We started with the things I could remember and what my body felt like when I thought about them and worked from there, we also did EMDR which was the reason I went to begin with. I felt wonderful after each session, lighter, more at ease, more confident, and more equipped to help myself, it changed my life for the better 100%. I think if we had started with the newborn part the effects would have been much better right away, it was hard going through the past few months trying to heal the little ones while they were just as overwhelmed as I was, which made me more overwhelmed. I tried helping my parts and it helped a lot but I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong. It makes sense that they just weren’t comfortable physically, because I wasn’t comfortable physically when I was their ages. It absolutely took going through the process with a specialist to even wrap my head around this idea let alone get to a place where new parts show up on their own and I have the ability to comfort them in any way they need.
